I always like to define what I am talking about or what is at stake before going into it more. This article will first define training in general and then apply that definition to Christian training within the context of discipleship.
I like the following three definitions and will use them as a starting point:
My own personal definition is a mixture of the above:
Training is the activity by which one gains the knowledge and experience to carry out pre-determined results.
The key words in the above definition are 'activity', 'knowledge', 'experience', 'pre-determined results'.
So now all we have to do if apply this definition to training as a Christian.
If you have not read the definition of Christian discipleship, I suggest you read that first.
If a Christian disciple is someone who learns Christ's teachings and obeys them, then modifying our definition to fit within that should be fairly easy.
Therefore,
Christian training is the activity by which one learns about Christ's teachings with the goal of obeying them.
Now that you know what Christian training is, it is time to start your training. Two great places to start are with your own Biblical training and by getting inspired by other Christians via devotionals.
