If have found devotionals to be effective for me as long as I was willing to invest in them.
In plain words devotionals are daily light reading on spiritual things, usually centered around a topic or a biblical passage.
They are meant to strengthen your faith and help you grow in 'devotion' to God.
Most devotionals use different authors to keep their style fresh and give you different perspectives.
Some devotionals follow the 3/4 - 1/4 pattern. 3/4 of the reading is a background story and 1/4 of the reading is a lesson where the story is applied to Christian living. Since we remember stories much easier than lectures, this format makes it harder to forget the lessons you have learned.
Usually I read the devotional once straight through for pure enjoyment. Most of them are very short so this does not take a lot of time.
After I have read the devotional I pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show me how I should understand this writing, if there is anything I can learn from it and if there are any areas in my life I should change in response to the reading.
Then I read the devotional again, this time slower looking for anything that jumps out at me.
Finally I think of ways I can apply what I have learned to my life.
At the moment we do not publish a daily devotional. But there are two free devotionals I can recommend to you.
