- You start with what you can handle and then work up from there, you need to give your spritual or physical muscles the chance to grow before trying more

- There is a proper method to understanding the Bible
- Your understanding of Scripture should be from within a Christian worldview, you should read the Bible as Christians have always understood it
- You need a knowledge of the historical context that Scripture was written in to properly understand it
- Your overall knowledge of Scripture and its themes determines how esay it is to understand a particular passage, the Bible has a coherant message
- The task of understanding Scripture is not just intellectual, you must be able to learn from the Holy Spirit (your teacher)
