Learning to seek guidance when you have problems or questions you cannot answer is one of the first lessons a new Christian should learn.
But who should you seek guidance from?
There are lots of bad theological sources around, it is easy to get sidetracked on unimportant issues.
If you are seeking guidance, the order I find works best for me is:
"A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." (Proverbs 16:9)
The Word of God should be your first source when you have a problem or need an answer. Before looking for answers ask the Holy Spirit through prayer to guide you...
... God knows what part of His word is most important for you to read at any particular time.
Most Bibles come with a topic index at the back that makes searching for specific passages a lot easier. That should be the first thing you try.
Also, by memorizing the books of the Bible and learning about the Bible as a whole you can quickly get a sense of where you need to read to get answers.

If you run into this problem, then it is time to seek help from a close Christian mentor or friend.
