What is Christian discipleship?  If you do not already have a clear idea what it is, please review this discipleship definition.

The Basic Process

• Learn Christ's teachings
• Obey them

What Does Learning Involve?

Learning to be Christ's disciple is a lifelong process.  Broadly summed up, it invovles:

• Unlearning worldly beliefs and beliefs that contradict Christ's teachings
• Learning the entirety of Christ's teachings
• Learning the Biblical Christian worldview
• Learning how to read the Bible correctly
• Memorizing the Bible (hard but worth the effort)
• Learning with the intent of obeying

The Hard Part - Obeying

It is not enough to learn about how to follow Christ, you actually have to follow Him.  Once again, this involves a lifelong commitment on your part.  I have been a follower of Christ for around 10 years now, and even after all that time I still have lots to learn and I still have to be tranformed more into Christ's likeness.

One 'trick' I have found to becoming better at obeying Christ's teachings is the largely forgotten (in Protestant circles) practice of spritual disciplines.  By using them as a tool (and not abusing them) you can

• Get rid of bad habits that are holding you back
• Learn new habits that make discipleship easier
